AN ARTISAN MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Soap results from a chemical reaction between an alkaline agent (potash or soda) and a fat (butter or vegetable oil, animal fat ...). Maison Méditerranée uses a method of artisanal and ecological production for the production of its soaps: cold saponification.
This manufacturing method makes it possible to avoid cooking the soap paste in order to work the ingredients at low temperature: the liquid oils are used at room temperature, while the vegetable butters are just lukewarm to be malleable.
At mid-production, when the dough thickens, we enrich it with essential oils, plant extracts or even coloring clays. The paste is then poured into molds and then it is waited 24 hours to harden once the saponification has been completed. The soaps are then allowed to dry in the open air for 4 to 6 weeks.
This technique allows the soap to retain all its glycerine. It is moisturizing and protects the skin. Surgras, our soaps thus preserve the hydrolipidic film of the skin. The oils are not heated, they retain all their properties and virtues (emollients, soothing, regenerating, moisturizing ...). Cold saponification gives priority to essential oils and vegetable oils which, thanks to this method, retain their active ingredients.
This method is environmentally friendly, requiring very little energy during manufacture and does not pollute water or soil; Soaps produced are 100% biodegradable. Furthermore, no chemical additives are added, so that the soap is perfectly tolerated even by the most sensitive skins. We also control the quality of our products by choosing each ingredient according to the properties (foaming, soft, washing, long-lasting ...) and the odors we want to give it through flowers, essences, clays or even spices. We guarantee the excellence of our production.

You will never find animal fats: they are found in industrial soaps and are of worse quality than vegetable materials for hydration and nutrition of the skin.
Maison Méditerranée soaps are therefore of better quality and more beneficial for the skin than industrial soaps:
